Who is Apryl Jones?
American actress, TV personality, singer-songwriter and social media star Apryl Jones, was born in Chicago, Illinois USA, on 15 December 1986, making Sagittarius her zodiac sign. She’s appeared in four movies and four TV series, and is perhaps known best for playing Mona, one of the lead characters in the 2022 comedy movie “You Married Dat”, directed by Dame Pierre, and which also starred Juhahn Jones and Audra Kinkead; it’s based on the hit series “YOU HITTIN DAT???”, and the film was nominated for two awards.
Apryl’s also known for being the girlfriend of famous American actor Scott Leo ‘Taye’ Diggs, who’s perhaps still known best for portraying Bandleader in the 2002 musical crime comedy film “Chicago”, which won 63 awards, including six Oscars, for such as Best Costume Design, Best Picture and Best Film Editing.
Education and early life
Apryl was raised in Chicago as an only child, by her American mother of Taiwanese and Chinese descent Mei Hsiang Jones, and African-American father whose name hasn’t been disclosed; it’s believed that her father was a guitar teacher, and her mother a cleaning lady.
Apryl studied at a local high school, and was into a number of activities during her time there, but was mostly into science; she also practiced acting with the school’s drama club, and enjoyed playing table tennis.
Upon matriculating in 2005, Apryl enrolled at college from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in radiation science in 2009.
Apryl’s career
Apryl began working at Northwestern Memorial Hospital as a medical examiner in 2010, then two years later chose to pursue a career in the music industry.
From 2014 through 2019, she starred in the reality show “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood”, which today stars Moniece Slaughter, Princess Love Norwood and Ray J. It follows the lives of several girls trying to succeed in Hollywood, and the series has aired over 100 episodes since 2014.
Apryl’s since appeared in an episode of a number of talk-shows, including “Brunch with Tiffany”, “The Real” and “VH1 Family Reunion: Love & Hip Hop Edition”.

Apryl made her debut TV series appearance in the 2019 comedy mini-series “You Hittin Dat”, which starred Audra Kinkead, Ciera Angelia and Ray Cunningham, and follows Juhahn who’s been dumped by his girlfriend after they had been together for seven years. Also in 2019, Apryl made her debut film appearance, playing Nikki in the comedy “I Got the Hook Up 2”, and she also played Sugar Puss in the fantasy film “Angel”.
In 2020, she starred as Sharice in all six episodes of the comedy series “Casting The Net”, which also starred Linara Washington and Siena Goines, and follows three actresses as they’re trying to succeed in Hollywood.
Also in 2020, Apryl played Paula in the episode “This is Some Bull…” of the drama series “For the Love of Jason”, which starred Trell Woodberry, Kareem J. Grimes and B. J. Britt, and follows a man who’s single and in his 30s.
Apryl’s since had only two roles. She starred as Chante in the 2022 episode “Before I Let Go” of the thriller “I Got a Story to Tell”, which also starred Blue Kimble and Pooch Hall, and is a compilation of six love stories. Apryl was then cast to play Champagne in the episodes “Black Stallion” and “Into The Woods” of the 2022 drama series “The Oval”, which Tyler Perry created, and which today stars Kron Moore, Ed Quinn and Brad Benedict.
