Who is Dallas Xavier Barrino?

Dallas Xavier Barrino was born in North Carolina, USA, on 13 December 2011 – his zodiac sign is Sagittarius, and he holds American nationality. At this stage of his life, he’s only known for being the son of Fantasia Barrino, a famous American singer.

Early life and education

Dallas is being raised in North Carolina as an only child, by his mother and his father Antwaun Cook, a non-celebrity American man. His parents weren’t married, and they split not long after he was born. Dallas has a half-sister who was born in May 2021, to Fantasia and her businessman husband Kendall Taylor; the two had exchanged vows 18 July 2015, in a private ceremony attended by only the closest of their friends and family members.

He also has another half-sister named Zion Quari Barrino, to whom Fantasia gave birth when she was only 16 years old, and whose father is her former boyfriend Brandel Shouse.

Fantasia Monique Barrino was born in High Point, North Carolina USA on 30 June 1984 – her zodiac sign is Cancer, and she holds American nationality. She gained recognition in 2004, after winning the third season of the singing competition show “American Idol”.

She was raised in High Point alongside her brothers Xavier, Joseph and Ricco, by their father Joseph Barrino, and their mother Diane; nothing is known about her family, as Fantasia respects their privacy. She began singing when she was only five years old, mostly motivated by her cousins Joel ‘Jojo’ Hailey and Cedric ‘K-Ci’ Hailey, who formed the duo K-Ci & JoJo, and by her uncles who played in the soul music group The Barrino Brothers in the ‘70s.

Fantasia studied at Andrews High School, but dropped out after being raped by a classmate, because she was too embarrassed to continue studying there. On 8 August 2001, she gave birth to her daughter Zion.

She entered the competition “American Idol” in 2004, and performed the song “Summertime” from the opera “Porgy and Bess”; Fantasia found the song to be very emotional, and cried on stage. She sang the same song in the finals, and the British TV personality and entrepreneur Simon Phillip Cowell stated that Fantasia was the best contestant he had seen in the show; Fantasia won by amassing 1.3 million votes more than the American singer-songwriter and actress Diana DeGarmo.

She then signed a contract with J Records, and her debut single “I Believe” was released in June 2004, topping the Billboard Hot 100 Chart; the single became certified double platinum, and Fantasia won three Billboard Music Awards for it. Her debut studio album was released in November 2004, entitled “Free Yourself”, which peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 Chart, while becoming certified platinum after a year; the album spawned two hit songs: “Free Yourself” and “Truth Is”.

Her second studio album “Fantasia” was released on 12 December 2006, and its lead single “When I See You” topped the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart, holding the spot for two months. Her third album “Back To Me” came out on 24 August 2010, and Fantasia then embarked on her first tour to promote it.

She was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame on 16 October 2014, and her following album “The Definition Of…” was released on 29 July 2016, peaking at #6 on the Billboard 200 Chart. Most recently, on 11 October 2019, she released her album “Sketchbook”.

She’s also an author, having published her memoir “Life Is Not a Fairy Tale” in September 2005.

Fantasia’s acting career

Fantasia has close to 20 acting credits, while most of these are her appearances in her own music videos. She launched her acting career in 2004, when cast to play Aretha Franklin in the episode “One in a Million” of the hit historical family series “American Dreams”, created by Josh Goldstein and Jonathan Prince, and which starred Gail O’Grady, Tom Verica and Brittany Snow.

It follows the celebrities who lived in the ‘60s, the series aired from 2002 to 2005, and won 12 awards, including two Primetime Emmys, while it was nominated for 27 other awards.

In 2005, she voiced Clarissa Wellington in the episode “A Star Is Torn” of the hit animated comedy series “The Simpsons”, and in 2006, she starred in the biographical musical movie “Life Is Not a Fairytale: The Fantasia Barrino Story”, which follows her life.

One of her most notable performances in the 2010s was in the 2011 musical movie “Soul Kittens Cabaret”.
