Who is Bob Morley?
Robert Alfred ‘Bob’ Morley was born under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius on 20 December 1984, in Kyneton, Victoria, Australia; he holds Australian nationality, and his ethnicity is of mixed Irish and Filipino descent. He’s an actor with more than 10 credits to his name, perhaps known best for his role as Bellamy Blake in the series “The 100”, a science-fiction mystery drama about a hundred juvenile delinquents who are sent back to the Earth from the spaceship, 97 years later, after a nuclear war which destroyed a whole civilization.
Early life and education
Bob was raised on a farm in Kyneton alongside his two older sisters and a brother,by their mother, since their father died when they were young.
Bob attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2002, he enrolled at the University of Melbourne, at engineering college, but a year later transferred to La Trobe University, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Arts in 2006.
Roles in series
Bob made his acting debut in 2006, portraying Drew Curtis in the series “Home and Away”, a romantic drama about residents of a small coastal town Summer Bay, their lives, heartbreaks, loves, and lives; the long-running series had 110 award nominations and won 46 – Bob was nominated for Logie Award Most Popular New Male Talent in 2007.
In the following year, he was cast to play Tony Moretti in “The Strip”, which is a crime mystery drama about detectives from Australia’s Gold Coast in Queensland, starring Vanessa Gray, Aaron Jeffery and Simone McAullay.
Bob made an appearance in an episode of the series “Sea Patrol”, and after that he portrayed Aidan Foster in “Neighbours”, another long-running Australian soap opera which had 76 award nominations and won 25, then had a minor role as Ethan Quinn in “Winners & Losers”, acting alongside Melissa Bergland, Melanie Vallejo and Virginia Gay.
In the following years, he was cast to play his most significant role as Bellamy Blake in “The 100” starring alongside Eliza Taylor and Marie Avgeropoulos; the series had 44 award nominations, including for a Primetime Emmy, and won 11. Bob was four times nominated for Teen Choice Award Choice TV Actor: Fantasy/Sci-Fi, and shares two award nominations with Eliza Taylor, one for Teen Choice Award Choice TV Ship, and another for Teen Choice Award Choice TV: Chemistry.
Bob made an appearance in an episode of the series “The Rookie”, before he started filming for the mini-TV series “Love Me”, which should be released in 2022.
Roles in movies
Bob made his first appearance on the big screen in the 2008 movie “Scorched”, followed by his role as Craig in “Road Kill”, starring alongside Georgina Haig and Sophie Lowe in this horror thriller which had four award nominations and won three.
In the following years, Bob portrayed Nick in the 2013 movie “Blinder”, and after that he was cast to play Avi in the 2016 movie “Lost in the White City”, starring alongside Thomas Dekker and Haley Bennett in this drama about art school students, who travel to Tel Aviv, Israel with the intention to rebuild their relationship, where they meet Avi, a soldier of the Israeli army, who enters in their lives in a bad moment which is fragile for their relationship. The movie was nominated for Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival Tridens Award Best Film, and this was Bob’s most recent role in a movie.
Love life and marriage
There were various rumors about Bob’s love life, and it seems that this young, good-looking actor was romantically linked to some celebrities from the fashion world, however, he hasn’t spoken about these speculations.
It’s known that he was in a relationship with actress Jessica Tovey back in 2007, and they dated for a year.
In 2014, Bob started dating Jane Gosden, however, they broke up after a year, and then in 2019 he dated Spanish actress Arryn Zech, and according to some sources this relationship ended badly; Arryn accused Bob of emotional and verbal abuse, saying that he yelled at her and that he had a problem with her bisexuality, however, Bob hasn’t commented on her accusations.
Bob and his future wife Eliza met on the shooting for the series “The 100” – they were one of those movie couples who had such chemistry on screen that every viewer believed that they are really in love. However, this isn’t far from the truth, although the two kept their relationship a secret, but when they publicly announced their marriage on Instagram, fans weren’t surprised.
The two married on 5 May 2019, but announced the marriage on 7 June 2019, after which they bought a farm in Australia, as they stated they fulfilled their dreams of having a ‘forever home and be married to a person who loves’.
In early 2020, while filming the final season of “The 100”, Bob and Eliza revealed that she’d had a miscarriage.
As of December 2021, Bob is married and has no children.
Hobbies and other interests
Bob directed the episode “Ashes to Ashes” of the series “The 100” and that was his directing debut. He stated once that he would like to become a great director like his idol Martin Scorsese.
His favorite hobby is working-out – he exercises four to five times per week at the gym, and likes outdoor activities, especially hiking, walking with his two dogs, and when he wants to relax, he goes swimming.
Bob is known as a philanthropist, and since 2016 has participated in various charity organizations – he’s designed shirts and sold them online to raise funds for beyondblue, an Australian mental health support organization. In the following year, he designed another shirt and raised funds for the JED Foundation, which is a non-profit organization for helping to prevent suicide and emotional problems for teens and young adults.
He raised money for BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada, with his fellows from “The 100”, and with his wife, he had a t-shirt campaign to raise money for various other non-profit organizations, such as the Australian Red Cross, the Rural Fire Service, and the Country Fire Authority among others.
Onto his Instagram account, he often posts advice and messages to help people who have mental and emotional problems, as he said he hopes that among his 1.3 million followers, he will help at least one of them.
