Who is Antony Starr?
Antony was born in Wellington, New Zealand, on 25 October 1975 – his zodiac sign is Scorpio, and he holds New Zealand nationality. He’s an actor with over 30 credits to his name, while he’s perhaps still known best for his portrayal of the lead character Jethro West in the popular crime comedy series “Outrageous Fortune”, created by Rachel Lang and James Griffin, and which also starred Robyn Malcolm and Siobhan Marshall. It follows criminal Wolfgang West who’s just been sentenced to spend four years behind bars, while his family’s now decided to go straight; the series aired from 2005 to 2010, and won eight of the 21 awards for which it was nominated.
Early life and education
Antony was raised in Wellington by his parents, about whom not a lot is known as he respects their privacy; it’s said that his father was a janitor at a local high school, and that his mother was a cashier at a supermarket. Because Antony hasn’t mentioned having any siblings, most of his fans believe him to be an only child.
He became interested in acting at a quite an early age, and was nine when he appeared in a play performed at his elementary school. Antony enrolled at local high school in 1990, and was physically highly active during his four years there, as he played both soccer and basketball for school teams.
Upon matriculating in 1994, he chose not to pursue a college degree, but to work on his way up in the film industry.

Antony made his debut TV series appearance in the 1995 episode “Hooves and Harlots” of the popular action adventure drama “Xena: Warrior Princess”, and eventually gained recognition in 2001, when cast to play Todd Van der Velter in the drama “Mercy Peak”, created by Rachel Lang and Gavin Strawhan, and which starred Sara Wiseman, Timothy Balme and Renato Barotolomei. It follows Dr. Nicky Sommervile who’s moved from to a small town from a large city, wanting to work at its small country hospital; the series aired from 2001 to 2003 and won three of the 11 awards for which it was nominated.
A couple of Antony’s following roles were in the 2004 episode “On the Origin of Species” of the comedy “Serial Killers”, 13 episodes of the 2011 mystery crime drama “Rush”, and also 13 episodes of the 2012 drama mini-series “Tricky Business”.
Between 2013 and 2016, he played the lead character Lucas Hood in all the 38 episodes of the action crime drama “Banshee”, created by David Schickler and Jonathan Tropper, and which also starred Ivana Milicevic and Ulrich Thomsen. The series follows a former convict who’s assumed the identity of Banshee’s murdered sheriff, and it won three awards, including a 2013 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role, while it was nominated for nine other awards.
Three of Antony’s most recent roles in TV series have been in two episodes of the 2021 news comedy mini-series “The Boys: VNN (Seven on 7)”, two episodes of the 2022 animated short action “The Boys Presents: Diabolical” (voice role) and 25 episodes of the action crime drama “The Boys” since 2019.

Antony made his debut film appearance in the 2003 action adventure “Terror Peak”, while a couple of his following roles were in the 2003 drama “Skin & Bone”, the 2004 mystery thriller drama “In My Father’s Den” and the 2004 mystery adventure comedy “Without a Paddle”.
He gained recognition in 2005, with his portrayal of Jeff in the biographical sports drama “The World’s Fastest Indian”, written and directed by Roger Donaldson, and which starred Anthony Hopkins, Diane Ladd and Iain Rea. The movie tells the story of Burt Munro from New Zealand, who spent many years working on a 1920 Indian motorcycle, which he then used to break the world land speed record in 1967, on Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats; the movie won 11 of the 17 awards for which it was nominated.
A couple of Antony’s following notable performances were in the 2006 comedy drama “Naming Number Two”, and the 2010 dramas “After the Waterfall” and “Spies and Lies”.
He’s also known for his portrayal of Jeremy King in the 2012 mystery thriller drama “Wish You Were Here”, written and directed by Kieran Darcy-Smith, and which starred Joel Edgerton, Teresa Palmer and Felicity Price. It follows two sisters as they’re vacationing in Southern Cambodia with their boyfriends, when one of the men goes missing; the movie won 10 of the 33 awards for which it was nominated.
Antony’s since appeared in only a single movie: the 2019 comedy drama “American Sausage Standoff”.

Antony prefers to keep the details of his love life to himself, but it’s still known that he’s today in a relationship. Antony and costume designer Lucy McLay haven’t spoken about how and when they met, but it’s said that it was on the set of a TV series sometime in the second half of the 2010s. Lucy’s recently founded her own company, at which she’s working as a costume designer.
There are today rumors circulating the internet, claiming that Lucy and Antony have recently married in a small ceremony, but no evidence has been provided to support these claims, nor has Antony addressed these rumors.
He hasn’t mentioned any other women whom he’s perhaps been with, so as of August 2022, he’s in a long-term relationship with Lucy McLay, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Antony’s quite active on Instagram and seems to be enjoying the attention which he’s receiving from his more than 1.3 million followers; he’s uploaded nearly 300 pictures onto the network, most of which have been taken during his everyday life.
It’s been reported that Antony was arrested in Spain on 4 March 2022, after having assaulted a 21-year-old chef at a pub; he paid a fine of over $5,000 to avoid prison time.
Antony’s physically quite active, and has multiple training sessions at the gym every week, mostly because it’s important for his acting career to stay fit.
He’s passionate about travelling and has been all around the world, for both work and pleasure, while his dream travel destination is Tokyo, Japan.
