Who is Diane Farr?

Diane Farr was born in Manhattan, New York City USA, on 7 September 1969 – her zodiac sign is Virgo, and she holds American nationality. She’s an actress, author and producer, with 60 acting credits to her name, while she’s perhaps still known best for her portrayal of Jill Robinson in the comedy series “Californication” in 2009. It was created by Tom Kapinos, starred David Duchovny, Natascha McElhone and Evan Handler, and follows a writer who’s trying to spend time with his ex-girlfriend and their daughter, while he has a huge appetite for beautiful girls; the series aired from 2007 to 2014, and won eight awards, including two Primetime Emmys, while it was nominated for 32 other awards.

Early life and education

Diane was raised in Manhattan by her father Tomas E. Farr, and her mother Patricia Farr; not a lot is known about her parents, as she respects their privacy. Because she hasn’t spoken of having any siblings, most people believe Diane to be an only child.

She grew up being involved in various activities while attending a local high school, including acting, dancing and creative writing.

She matriculated in 1988, and then enrolled at New York’s Stony Brook University, at which she was mostly into acting, appearing in numerous plays performed at the university, as well as at a local theatre. Diane soon switched to Loughborough University in England, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1992.

She’s today also a writer; she published her first book “The Girl Code: The Secret Language of Single Women (On Dating, Sex, Shopping and Honor Among Girlfriends)” in 2001, and her second book “Kissing Outside the Lines” in May 2011.

Roles in TV series

Diane made her debut TV series appearance with her portrayal of Production Assistant, in the 1992 episode “Baser Instincts” of the mystery crime drama “Silk Stalkings”, and the following years saw her appear in an episode of the comedy “Unhappily Ever After”, the comedy “In the House”, and the action crime comedy “V. I. P.”.

From 1999 through 2001, Diane played Amy DeLuca in the popular mystery science fiction drama “Roswell”, created by Jason Katims, and which starred Shiri Appleby, Jason Behr and Katherine Heigl. It follows three half-alien half-human beings who are living in Roswell; the series won two of the 26 awards for which it was nominated. In 2001 and 2002, she starred as Jan Fendrich, in the crime comedy “The Job”, and then focused on making guest appearances in popular series, such as the mystery crime drama “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”, the sports comedy “Arli$$”, and the comedy “Bram and Alice”.

Between 2005 and 2008, she portrayed Megan Reeves, in the popular mystery crime drama “Numb3rs”, created by Nicolas Falacci and Cheryl Heuton, and which starred Rob Morrow, David Krumholtz and Judd Hirsch. It follows a mathematician who’s helping FBI solve crimes, aired from 2005 to 2010, and won four of the seven awards for which it was nominated, including a Primetime Emmy nomination.

Some of Diane’s most notable performances in the 2010s were in the romantic comedy drama “Private Practice”, the family comedy drama “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”, and the comedy “Sin City Saints”. Most recently, in 2021 she played Francesca Jameson in three episodes of the fantasy mystery drama “Charmed”, which follows three sisters who are good witches.

Diane made her debut film appearance in the 1998 comedy drama “Divorced White Male”, and a couple of her following roles were in the 1999 comedy “Little Indiscretions”, the  thriller “Flooding”, and the action horror thriller “Sacrifice” both in 2000.

She gained recognition in 2002 when cast to star as Sammy Kerns in the action thriller “Superfire”, directed by Steven Quale, and which also starred D. B. Sweeney and Chad Donella. It follows a firefighter pilot who has to stop a forest fire in Portland, Oregon from destroying the entire city; the film was nominated for two awards, including a Primetime Emmy. In the same year, Diane appeared in the comedy “Hourly Rates”, while the following year saw her appear in the comedies “The Ripples” and “Harry’s Girl”.

In 2007, she made an uncredited appearance in the crime drama “The Third Nail”, and in 2012, she portrayed Jillian, in the drama “About Cherry”; it was written and directed by Stephen Elliott, starred James Franco, Ashley Hinshaw and Heather Graham, and follows a young woman who is working as a pornographic actress in San Francisco. A couple of Diane’s other notable performances in the 2010s were in the 2014 adventure thriller drama “Wildlike”, the 2015 comedy “Road Hard”, and the 2017 horror thriller “12 Feet Deep”.

Her most recent film role has been her portrayal of Claire in the 2017 romantic comedy drama “Palm Swings”.

In 1996, Diane voiced Waitress in the video game “Who Is Oscar Lake?”, and in 1999, she voiced Chesara, Jacinda and Morphera, in the video game “Lands of Lore III”.

On 26 June 2006, Diane exchanged vows with Seung Yong Chung, who’s working as an entertainment marketing executive; her book “Kissing Outside the Lines” is about interracial romance. The two prefer to keep the details of their love life to themselves, although Diane has still revealed a lot in her book. They can often be seen spending time together, and Seung has kept Diane company during many of her red carpet events.

In March 2007, she gave birth to their son Beckett Mancuso Chung, and in August 2008 to their twin daughters Coco Trinity and Sawyer Lucia.

Neither Diane nor Seung have spoken of any other people whom they have perhaps been with, although it’s widely known that Diane was once engaged to another man.

As of September 2021, Diane’s married to Seung Yong Chung, and has three children with him.

Hobbies and interesting facts

Diane once accepted an offer to teach acting at a maximum security prison.

She and her friend Laura Bailey, an American artist, are running a greetings card company together, called Other Announcements.
