Who is Julia Rehwald?

American actress, social media star and model Julia Rehwald was born in Los Angeles, California, on 22 November 1995 (some sources state in 2001), making Sagittarius her zodiac sign. She’s appeared in only five movies and no TV series, and is perhaps known best for playing Kate Schmidt in the critically acclaimed 2021 horror mystery movie “Fear Street: Part One – 1994”, which Leigh Janiak directed, and which starred Benjamin Flores Jr, Olivia Scott and Kiana Madeira. It follows a group of teenagers who’ve discovered a supernatural force which has been killing people in their hometown for more than 300 years – the movie won two of its three award nominations.

Education and early life

Julia was raised in Los Angeles alongside her brother James and sister Joanna Rehwald, by their parents about whom Julia rarely speaks in public, as they prefer to maintain their privacy; it’s believed that her father’s a construction worker, and her mother a police officer.

She studied at St Francis High School, and it was during her time there that she began appearing in school plays, thus falling in love with acting; Julia was into several other activities, as she ran track, took creative writing classes and played the guitar.

She matriculated in 2014 and then honed her skills at an acting school, prior to launching her career in the film industry.

Career as an actress

She made her debut film appearance in the 2017 short romantic drama “Where’s Darren”, written and directed by Greyson Horst, and in which Julia starred alongside Joel Oladapo and Alexander Fordery; it follows Darren who’s determined to stick to his identity and fluid sexuality, even though his community’s only giving him heartbreak and rejection.

In 2019, Julia starred as Courtney in the short comedy movie “Mukbang Masarap”, written and directed by Raymond Eugenio, and which starred Kian Talan, Vivian Lam and Stan Vidal. It follows the life of aspiring chef Mark from New York City, who’s recently turned to mukbang eating.

In 2021, Julia reprised her role as Kate Schmidt in the horror mystery “Fear Street: Part Two – 1978”, which Leigh Janiak directed, and which starred Ryan Simpkins, Emily Rudd and  Sadie Sink. Set at Camp Nightwing in Shadyside in 1978, the film follows a boy who’s been possessed, and has gone on a killing spree; the movie won one of its three award nominations.

Julia’s only other role has been playing both Kate and Lizzie in the 2021 horror mystery “Fear Street: Part Three – 1666”, which Leigh Janiak directed, and which starred Gillian Jacobs, Ashley Zukerman and Kiara Madeira. It features a group of teenagers who’ve learned about the Sarah Fier’s curse that’s been haunting their hometown, and the film won one of its two award nominations.

Other credits

Some of Julia’s most recent talk-show appearances have been in an episode of “Popternative”, “Steve Varley Show” and “Thanks for Coming In”.

Presence on social media networks

Julia’s active on several social media networks, and has become an Instagram star; close to 400,000 people are following her on this network, although she’s uploaded only 41 pictures and videos, with most of these featuring her during her everyday life.

Julia doesn’t have a Twitter account, however, a fan account was launched for her in July 2021, and it number 12 tweets and over 1,000 followers; most of these are pictures and videos which feature her during her everyday life, while others show her shooting for her movies.

There’s also a fan page of Julia on Facebook, and it’s today followed by close to 60 people; the page hasn’t been updated since 25 September 2021, when several pictures featuring Julia travelling were posted.

She’s steadily building herself a fanbase on TikTok, as close to 40,000 people are currently following her on this social media network, however, Julia’s uploaded only a single video – it numbers only two likes.

Love life and relationships

Julia’s highly secretive when it comes to talking about her love life in public, and usually avoids answering these questions in interviews; this has led some of her fans to start rumors on the internet, which concern her current relationship status and sexual orientation.

Some people on the internet believe that Julia’s lesbian, and that she’s today in a relationship with a non-celebrity American girl who can be seen featured in some of her Instagram pictures; this is yet to be addressed by Julia.

There are also those who claim that the popular actress might be dating a non-celebrity American boy today, but that she prefers to keep this away from media; a fan believes that she’s recently seen Julia and the boy spending time together in Los Angeles and holding hands, but no evidence has been provided to support this.
