Gal Gadot was born on 30 April 1985, in Petah Tikva, Israel. She grew up in the city of Rosh HaAyin, raised by her parents Michael and Irit Gadot in the Jewish tradition. She attended Begin High School, where she majored in biology, but as she got older she became interested in modeling and acting.
At 18 years old she won the Miss Israel competition, but when she was 20, Gal enlisted herself for two years of mandatory military service in the Israel Defense Forces. After her military service ended, Gal studied government and law at the IDC Herzliya college in Herzliya, Israel.
Subsequent to winning the Miss Israel contest, Gal launched a modeling career, appearing on the cover of several magazines, including Cosmopolitan, Fashion, Entertainment Weekly, Glamour, and many others.
