YouTube career

Lucas got his start as a YouTuber during his teenage years, first posting videos with his cousins, Jon and Katie, on the YouTube channel called JLK Productions. Along the way, he started developing his Fred Figglehorn character, which turned out to be widely popular.

This prompted Lucas to launch a separate YouTube channel entirely dedicated to Fred, in April 2008. By early 2009, it had already amassed more than a million subscribers, becoming the first YouTube channel to reach that milestone. During the height of his popularity, Lucas collaborated with other famous YouTubers, most notably Annoying Orange.

In December 2009, Lucas filmed “Fred: The Movie”, which aired on Nickelodeon in the following year, and also saw a theatrical release in UK and Ireland. Despite receiving exceptionally negative reviews from the critics, the movie became a huge commercial success, with its TV premiere drawing a total of almost eight million viewers.

In 2011, a sequel entitled “Fred 2: Night of the Living Fred” premiered on Nickelodeon, drawing more than 5.7 million viewers. In 2012, the third and final installment in the “Fred” movie franchise, entitled “Fred 3: Camp Fred” saw its release, receiving overall more positive reviews, but attracting slightly lower viewership compared to its predecessors.

In 2014, Lucas retired his Fred character, and opened his YouTube channel to anyone who wanted to post family-friendly videos, such as sketches, music videos and animations. However, the idea wasn’t well received by Lucas’ audience, and he ultimately stopped uploading videos to the channel altogether as of July 2015.

Through his YouTube career, Lucas has collaborated with numerous brands, such as Zipit, and has also promoted the movies “City of Ember”, “Year One” and “Adventures of Power”. As of January 2022, FRED YouTube channel numbers close to three million subscribers, and more than 1.3 billion views.

Aside from his main channel FRED, Lucas has also been running his second channel, simply named Lucas, which he launched in January 2009. Onto this channel, he mainly uploads more personal, vlog or reaction videos out of character. From 2013 through 2014, Lucas was joined by the fellow YouTuber, Jennifer Vial, with whom he posted videos onto this channel, which he briefly renamed to Lucas and Jenny, but later reverted to making videos alone. Although Lucas quit making videos for his original channel in 2015, he still regularly posts videos onto his second channel, which now numbers more than three million subscribers, and almost 300 million views.

In addition, in November 2013, Lucas launched his third YouTube channel, called More Lucas, however, he is yet to post any videos onto it.

TV appearances

In 2009, Lucas made a guest appearance as Fred, in an episode of the Nickelodeon show “iCarly”, as well as the widely popular Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana”. In the following year, he was one of the show presenters of that year’s edition of Kids’ Choice Awards, and in 2011, he hosted the Cartoon Network Hall of Game Awards.

In 2012 and 2013, he starred as the lead character Marvin, in the Nickelodeon children’s sitcom “Marvin Marvin”, centered on an alien boy, having to adjust to his new life as a human.

Despite its popularity, the series ended after Lucas’ departure from Nickelodeon.

Briefly about Danny DeVito

New Jersey native Danny was born to Daniel DeVito Sr. and Julia DeVito. He spent most of his childhood and formative years in Asbury Park alongside his two older sisters. At a young age, Danny was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, Fairbank’s disease, which affects the growing ends of bones, resulting in short stature.

Interestingly, he worked as a beautician at his sister’s salon, before enrolling at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, from which he graduated in 1966. Before moving on to the big screen, he honed his craft in theater, and often performed with the Colonnades Theater Lab at the Eugene O’Neil Theater Center.

After struggling to find work, in 1975 he was cast as Martin in the eponymous movie adaptation of Ken Kesey’s novel “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. Three years later, he landed the role as Louie de Palma in the sitcom “Taxi”, sharing the stage with Andy Kaufman, Judd Hirsch and Tony Danza. His unique sense of humor and performance as a taxi dispatcher garnered him two awards, Golden Globe and Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy series.

After landing his breakthrough role, he soon starred in numerous other films, including “The Jewel of the Nile”, “Throw Momma from the Train”, and “The War of the Roses”.

Besides acting, he also tried his luck as a producer on numerous projects, including the biographical crime thriller “Hoffa”, starring Jack Nicholson and Armand Assante. Danny launched the production company “Jersey Films”, which produced a number of hit movies, including Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” in 1994, and the 2000 biographical movie “Erin Brockovich”, starring Julia Roberts. Danny also had notable roles in the “Out of Sight”, “Living Out loud”, and “Man on the Moon”. With over 40 credits under his belt, he’s built his career starring in numerous films and TV shows, landing nominations and awards.

While the older generations praise Danny for his numerous roles and the undoubted influence he has had on the entertainment industry and comedy in Hollywood, the younger audience might recognize him from the hilarious sitcom “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, which has run since 2005.
