Mark is an American television personality, car mechanic and entrepreneur, best known to the world as the owner of Gotham Garage, which featured in the Netflix show “Car Masters: Rust to Riches” (2018-2020).

The Gotham Garage is based in Temecula, California. Comprised of several mechanics, Mark is the leader and mainly responsible for the creations.
He built his fame on creating custom cars that are exact replicas of cars from popular films, including the Batmobile, while he’s also overhauled the tow truck that is built on a 1940 Ford truck platform, then the Lincoln Futura, and one of the most customized cars, the Spittinimage, based on Chevrolet Corvette C4. The Rocket car is one of his most popular creations, and a Frank’N’Bus based on the VV’s hippy truck of the ‘60s and ‘70s, among many other creations.

With his motto, if you can dream it, I can build it, Mark has earned recognition throughout the US thanks to his many out-of-the-ordinary creations. After years of hard work, all paid out in 2018 when his garage was selected as the base for the new Netflix reality show “Car Masters: Rust to Riches”. The show premiered on 14 September 2018 and since then has aired 24 episodes over three seasons, with the third season premiering on 14 August 2021.
His helpers include Constance Nunes, Shawn Pilot, Michael ‘Caveman’ Pyle and Tony Quinones.
Legal Problems
It hasn’t all been milk and honey for Mark; for his Batmobile replica, he was sued by Warner Bros. for copyright infringement. The legal battle reached the national news, as DC Comics claimed that the Batmobile was entitled to copyright protection under the law.
On the other hand, Mark said that DC didn’t own copyright for the car in the movie and TV show. Unfortunately, the court decided against Mark and his garage, stating that the Batmobile has sufficient “recognizable qualities” that give it copyright protection. He made a massive payout to Warner Bros. after the lawsuit was ruled in their favor, but it made him a huge star with the public, as everyone stood on his side.
He has since continued to make various replicas of movie cars, including the Coach from “The Munsters”, and the Mach 5 from “Speed Racer”.
