The latest title on which Katia was involved is “Malcom & Marie” in 2021, a black and white drama romance, for which she was a co-produce,.working alongside her brother John David Washington and Zendaya, who are both lead actors and producers.
The budget for the film was $2.5 million, and on 29 January 2021 it had a limited release, with Netflix outbidding Searchlight Pictures, A24 and HBO to acquire the rights to distribute the movie for $30 million. During the limited theatrical run Deadline Hollywood reported that the film ‘made hardly any money’, because of COVID-19 pandemic.
