Who is Jamie Hector?
Jamie was born in Brooklyn, New York City USA, on 7 October 1975 – his zodiac sign is Libra, he holds American nationality, but is of Haitian descent. He’s an actor with more than 60 credits to his name, while he’s perhaps known best for his portrayal of Jerry Edgar, one of the lead characters in the popular crime series “Bosch”. It was created by Eric Ellis Overmyer, also starred Titus Welliver and Amy Aquino, and follows a Los Angeles Police Department detective who’s on trial for killing a serial killer, while he’s simultaneously investigating the murder of a 13 years old boy; the series aired from 2014 to 2021, and won seven of the 22 awards for which it was nominated.
Early life and education
Jamie was raised in Brooklyn by his parents, about whom nothing’s known as he respects their privacy; it’s said that his father was the owner of a carpet store, and that his mother worked in it too. Because Jamie hasn’t spoken of having any siblings, his fans believe that he’s an only child.
He became interested in acting at a quite an early age, and when he was nine started appearing in plays performed both at a local theatre and his elementary school. Jamie studied at a local high school, was a member of its drama club, and also played soccer and basketball.
Upon matriculating in 1993, he enrolled at Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in drama in 1997.

Jamie made his debut TV series appearance with his portrayal of Tony Sands in the 1997 episode “Is It a Crime?” of the crime drama “New York Undercover”, and the following a couple of years saw him appear in an episode of several hit series, including the mystery crime dramas “The Beat” and “Law & Order”, and the action crime drama “Third Watch”.
Between 2004 and 2008, he portrayed the supporting character Marlo Stanfield in the critically acclaimed crime thriller drama “The Wire”, created by David Simon, and which starred Dominic West, Lance Reddick and Sonja Sohn. Aired from 2002 to 2008, it follows police officers and drug dealers who are working in Baltimore, and won 16 of the 72 awards for which it was nominated, including two Primetime Emmy nominations.
In 2010, Jamie appeared in two episodes of the drama “Mercy”, and then made a guest appearance in an episode of a couple of series, including the mystery crime drama “Lie to Me”, the drama “Lens on Talent”, and the action crime drama “CSI: Miami”.
In 2014 and 2015, he portrayed Drifty in the crime drama “Power”, created by Courtney A. Kemp, and which starred Lela Loren, Omari Hardwick and Naturi Naughton. It follows the wealthy night club owner James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick who’s also a drug lord; the series aired from 2014 to 2020, and won 14 of the 40 awards for which it was nominated.
Most recently, in 2022, Jamie starred as Sean Suiter in the drama mini-series “We Own This City”.

He made his debut film appearance in the 1998 sports drama “He Got Game”, while a couple of Jamie’s following roles were in the 1999 crime drama “Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai”, the 2000 drama “The Day the Ponies Come Back”, and the 2001 crime drama “Prison Song”.
In 2002, he played Dunn in the action crime drama “Paid in Full”, directed by Charles Stone III, and which starred Mekhi Phifer, Wood Harris and Chi McBride. The movie follows a young man who has started working with drugs in ‘80s Harlem; the movie was nominated for a Film Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.
A couple of Jamie’s other notable performances in the 2000s were in the 2004 drama “Everyday People”, the 2007 drama “Blackout”, and the 2008 action crime drama “Max Payne”.
The year 2013 saw him play the supporting character Nick in the action crime drama “Blood Ties”, written and directed by Guillaume Canet, and which starred Clive Owen, Marion Cotillard and Billy Crudup. Jamie exchanged vows with Jennifer Amelia in the first half of the 2000s, in a private ceremony attended by only the closest of their family members; neither has shared the exact date of the wedding, but it’s believed that it was in 2004.
Jennifer is an American wedding planner and event designer, and is the owner of her own company Jennifer Amelia Events, LLC. She gave birth to her and Jamie’s daughter in 2009, while their son followed in 2016.
Jamie hasn’t spoken of any other women whom he has perhaps been with, and as of January 2022, he’s married to Jennifer Amelia, and they have two children together.
Hobbies and interesting facts
Jamie is a philanthropist, and has worked with various non-profit organizations, as well as founded his own in 2007, called Moving Mountains, Inc. It’s a theatre-based organization, which offers free acting and dancing classes to children and teenagers who might not be able to afford them.
Jamie is a fashionista, and is trying to keep up with all of the latest fashion trends, while he also founded his own clothing line Royal Addiction in 2007.
