Who is Kelianne Stankus?
Kelianne Stankus was born in Riverside, California USA, on 29 March 1996 – her zodiac sign is Aries, and she holds American nationality. She’s a professional gymnast, dancer and a social media star, particularly known for posting hoverboard stunt videos on YouTube and TikTok.
Early life and education
Kelianne was born to Kelly and Leanne Stankus, and has two younger brothers named Cody and Lucas. She has been passionate about gymnastics since her childhood, and her parents enrolled her into gymnastics classes when she was seven years old. During her teenage years, Kelianne discovered her love for dancing too, and has since been posting her dance routine videos onto her social media.
Kelianne matriculated from a local high school in 2015, but didn’t enroll at a college, since she wanted to focus on building a career in the entertainment industry. Following her matriculation, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she still resides.
Career as a gymnast
Kelianne competed in gymnastics for more than 10 years. She was a member of the US National Acrobatic Gymnastics team, and was coached by David Reiakvam, for the most of her professional career.
One of her greatest achievements as a gymnast came in 2005, when she won her first gold medal at the Freedom Cup. In 2011, she placed third at the National Championship in San Jose, California, and in the following year competed at the World Championship in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, placing eighth.
Kelianne stopped doing gymnastics competitively after matriculating high school, but is still training and often incorporates elements of gymnastics into her dance routines.
Rise to popularity
In 2015, Kelianne and her friends Ciera Wilson, Kailey Maurer and Diana Tatevossian formed the hoverboard dance group The Acrobots. They started off by posting their videos onto their eponymous YouTube channel, and soon attracted media attention. The group made their TV debut In December 2015, performing to Justin Bieber’s song “Sorry” in “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”; the video of their performance went viral on YouTube, amassing more than two million views in a short amount of time.
As a result, Kelianne became even more popular on social media, and her Instagram account now numbers more than two million followers. In 2020, she became active on TikTok, posting short dance videos onto her account. She became even more active during the Covid-19 lockdowns, attracting a large fanbase on the platform, often collaborating with the popular TikToker Taylor Holder, who introduced her to Thomas Petrou, the founder of The Hype House, a group of teenage content creators living together in a mansion. Taylor and Kelianne were planning to move in together at that time, but Thomas instead invited them to join The Hype House.
The collective was formed back in 2019, by Daisy Keech, Thomas Petrou and Chase Hudson, who is perhaps the most notable current House resident.
Some former members of The Hype House include Addison Rae, and Charlie and Dixie D’Amelio, who left the group in May 2020, claiming that ‘the Hype House started to become more of a business’.
The newest addition to the content creating collective is the rising Instagram and TikTok star Vinnie Hacker, who joined the house in January 2021, surprising a lot of The Hype House fans. In April the same year, Netflix announced that they would start working on a reality TV show, about the daily life of The Hype House residents. The popularity of The Hype House has inspired the formation of several similar collectives, but none have reached the same level of success.
TV appearances
Two years after making her TV debut, Kelianne appeared in an episode of the MTV talent show “Amazingness”. In 2020, she made appearances in several TV shows, including “What the TikTok” and “Game Night with the Hamiltons”.
Love life and boyfriend
In 2019, Kelianne was briefly in a relationship with the hockey player and model Zach Cox. They posted a lot of pictures together onto their social media accounts, but broke-up after only two months together – Kelianne posted a video on her YouTube channel, saying that she would never dye her hair over a bad break-up, however, ironically, her next video was about her doing just that.
Kelianne is currently engaged to the model Chase Mattson. In an interview she gave for the online magazine “J-14”, Kelianne revealed that she made the first move, as she sent Chase a message on Instagram, after checking out his account. He was happy to comply, and after a day of having conversations online, they agreed to have their first date.
In May 2020, Chase shared photos from their date night on Twitter, publicly confirming that they’re in a relationship.
In December the same year, they became engaged and are planning to have a wedding in summer, mid-2022. As they said, they’re not rushing to the altar, and are waiting for all the Covid-19-related regulations to be lifted, so they can have a large wedding ceremony.
For a long period of time, Kelianne was rumored to have been in a relationship with Taylor Holden, with whom she appears to be very close. Kelianne even posted a video onto her YouTube channel, in which she kissed Tyler, and another one in which she ‘dated’ him for 24 hours. This fueled the rumors, but they were never confirmed by either Kelianne or Taylor, and are adamant that they’ve never been anything more than just friends.
Cosmetic surgery
In July 2021, Kelianne and her friend and YouTuber Azra Mian, posted a series of videos and photos onto their social media accounts, showing that they had both undergone nose surgery.
This left a lot of their fans wondering why the two decided to do this together, however, they later revealed that they both had trouble breathing, and that they chose to go to a surgeon together to support each other through the whole process. In a video she uploaded following the surgery, Kelianne said that she had broken her nose when she was 12 years old, which left her with breathing issues, and that she didn’t want her nose to look very different than before the procedure.
Hobbies and interesting facts
Kelianne is a very active person who enjoys a lot of outdoors activities, such as hiking, mountaineering and rock climbing. She also recently went skydiving, which she ended up loving. ‘That was probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever done’, she said in a Q&A interview she gave for the Famous Birthdays website.
She loves to travel, especially to tropical destinations, and has revealed that her dream travel location is Bora Bora in the South Pacific.
As a teenager, Kelianne was a big fan of the “High School Musical” movies, and her first celebrity crush was Zac Efron.
She loves watching TV series in her spare time, with her all-time favorite show being “One Tree Hill”, while some of her other favorites are “Gossip Girl” and “Vampire Diaries”.
