Luke’s grandfather, Jeoffrey, is a famous contemporary christian music singer. Luke has two younger sisters named Ella and Gracie.

However, it wasn’t until his freshman year in high school that Luke realized he wanted acting to be his full-time career. Soon thereafter, he moved to Los Angeles, California with his family, which is where he still resides.
Roles in movies
Luke made his acting debut in the 2002 historical drama “We Were Soldiers”, based on the novel by Harold G. Moore and Joseph Lee Galloway. At the time of auditioning, Luke was only five years old and he didn’t know how to read yet, so he simply recited the pledge of allegiance, which he knew by heart. The casting directors were impressed, and gave young Luke the role of David Moore, the son of the film’s main character, Hal Moore, played by Mel Gibson.
In 2006, Luke played his first leading role, in the family comedy “How to Eat Fried Worms”, following a fifth grade boy who stands up to his bully and challenges him to a series of dares.
The film received mostly positive reviews from the critics, and Luke and his co-stars were rewarded with a Young Artist Award in the Best Young Ensemble in a Feature Film category.
Another remarkable role for Luke was in the 2008 Disney Channel movie “Minutemen”, in which he played the role of 14-year-old Charlie Tuttie, who along with his friends invented a time machine. Two years later, he appeared alongside Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried in the romantic drama “Dear John”, directed by Lasse Hallstrom, based on the eponymous novel by Nicholas Sparks.
