Who is Nico Hiraga?
Nico Hiraga was born in San Francisco, California USA, on 19 December 1997 – his zodiac sign is Sagittarius, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor, skateboarder and a social media star, with 13 acting credits to his name, perhaps known best for his portrayal of Tanner, in the 2019 comedy movie “Booksmart”. It was directed by Olivia Wilde, starred Kaitlyn Dever, Beanie Feldstein and Jessica Williams, and follows two best friends during their last day at high school, trying to have the most fun they can; the movie won 24 of the 83 awards for which it was nominated.
Early life, parents and education
Nico was raised in San Francisco by his parents, about whom very little is known as he respects their privacy; it’s known that his father is Japanese, and that his mother is of German-British descent. He hasn’t spoken of having any siblings, and is thus believed to be an only child.
He became interested in skateboarding at a very early age, and took on the sport when he was six years old. Nico has since competed in various tournaments and championships, and has won several. He studied at a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2016 chose to focus on his acting career, as well as on running his social media accounts; Nico hasn’t attended college.
Roles in movies
Nico made his debut film appearance in the 2017 sports drama “The Flare”, written and directed by Federico Vitetta, starred Vincent Alvarez, Simon Bannerot and Danny Brady, and which follows the lives of several young adults who are into skateboarding. Also in 2017, Nico starred in the short comedy drama “Summer of 17”.
The following year saw him cast to play Patrick, in the popular drama “Skate Kitchen”, written and directed by Crystal Moselle, and which starred Rachelle Vinberg, Dede Lovelace and Nina Moran. It follows a skateboarder who has made friends with several New York City girls who are also into skateboarding, and the movie won three of the 14 awards for which it was nominated.
Also in 2018, Nico appeared in the music video “Zhu, Tame Impala: My Life”, and in 2020, he was cast to play a supporting character in the sports drama “Godspeed”.
Nico portrayed Seth in the 2021 hit musical comedy “Moxie”, directed by Amy Poehler, and which starred Hadley Robinson, Lauren Tsai and Alycia Pascual-Pena. The film follows a 16 years old girl who has published an article about sexism at her school.
Nico has appeared in just two other movies, the 2021 sports comedy drama “North Hollywood”, and the 2021 music video “Olivia Rodrigo: Brutal”; he’s currently shooting for the upcoming romantic comedy “Rosaline”, and the romantic drama “Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between”.
Roles in TV series
Nico has only a single appearance in TV series; in 2018, he appeared in three episodes of the critically acclaimed sports comedy drama “Ballers”, created by Stephen Levinson, and which starred Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, John David Washington and Donovan W. Carter. It follows the lives of several football players, their friends and families; the series aired from 2015 to 2019, and won one of the 38 awards for which it was nominated, including five Primetime Emmy nominations.
He’s currently shooting for the upcoming drama “The Power”.

Nico is quite active on Instagram, and seems to be enjoying the attention which he’s receiving from his more than 650,000 followers. He’s uploaded nearly 500 pictures onto the network, the majority of which have been taken during his everyday life.
He launched his Twitter account in September 2017, and has since attracted over 200 followers, but has tweeted only nine times so far.

Nico hasn’t spoken of any girls or boys whom he has perhaps been, which is why there are various rumors circulating the internet concerning his past and present affairs, as well as his sexual orientation.
Many of his fans believe him to be gay, mostly because he hasn’t been seen spending time in public with any girls, nor has he featured any in his Instagram pictures.
Nico was apparently seen by a fan spending time with a boy, who believes that the two are perhaps in a relationship, but no evidence has been provided to support these claims, nor has Nico commented on this.
There are also those who believe that he’s today in a relationship with a non-celebrity American girl, but prefers to keep her away from the media’s attention; this hasn’t been confirmed either.

Nico spends the majority of his spare time skateboarding, and is also into other sports, such as football, soccer and basketball.

He’s a huge dog-lover, and his pet dog can be seen featured in many of his Instagram pictures.
