Early life and education
Shantel was born on 25 July 1984, in Miami, Florida, USA, the middle of five children of mother of Caucasian and Native American descent, while their father is African American. Shantel became interested in performing arts at an early age, and dreamed of becoming an actress.
Shantel attended Technical Arts High School, then after matriculating in 2002, she enrolled at the University of Miami, where she studied Psychology. During her time at college, she started dabbling in modeling, and appeared in a few music videos, including “Here Without You” by the rock band 3 Doors Down.
Shantel made her acting debut in the 2012 action crime drama movie “Freelancers”, directed by Jessy Terrero and written by L. Philippe Casseus. The movie starred 50 Cent, Forest Whitaker, and Robert De Niro, with Shantel playing a prominent supporting role.
The plot follows the story of Malo (played by 50 Cent), a young man who joins the police force in order to follow in his father’s footsteps. Malo quickly learns that the police department is rife with corruption, and begins to associate himself with a group of renegade cops led by his father’s former partner, Lieutenant Sarcone (played by Robert De Niro).
Shantel plays the role of Maria, the love interest of Malo. She works as a waitress at a nightclub frequented by Sarcone and his crew, and becomes involved with Malo after he saves her from a group of violent patrons.
In the following years, Shantel appeared in short films “Eye of the Beholder”, “Good Riddance”, and “Love of Art”. Her latest feature film role was in the 2022 drama “The Lady Makers”, written and directed by Tony Tite, and which starred Amber Reign Smith, Danielle Madison, and Lupe Leon.
Aside from her acting and modeling work, Shantel is also known for her appearances in reality TV shows. Her most prominent was in “Nellyville”, which premiered on the BET network in November 2014. The show followed the life of Grammy Award-winning rapper Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., as he balances his career with his family life.
The show featured Shantel as his girlfriend, and she appeared as a recurring character throughout the series. She is shown supporting Nelly as he navigates his music career, while also dealing with her own business ventures. In addition to Nelly and Shantel, “Nellyville” also featured Nelly’s family, including his two children from a previous relationship, his sister, his niece, and his parents. The show highlighted the family’s relationships and interactions, and offered a more intimate look into Nelly’s life. However, the show ultimately failed to achieve high ratings, and was ultimately canceled after only two seasons.
Aside from being a regular on “Nellyville”, Shantel has made appearances in other shows such as “Ridiculousness”, “The Platinum Life”, and “Celebrity Game Face”.
Shantel is also an entrepreneur, having started multiple companies. Her biggest success as a business owner is a brand called Shoe Gummi, which sells pads designed to make wearing high heels more comfortable. Love life and relationships
Shantel was thrust into the spotlight after she started dating the now former professional boxer, Floyd Mayweather Jr. Their relationship began in 2006, after meeting when Shantel was working as a hostess at a party in Atlanta, Georgia. Floyd was immediately taken with her, and the two began dating soon after. Shantel became a regular fixture at Floyd’s fights and was often seen sitting ringside.
The couple’s relationship was not without controversy, however. In 2014, not long after the two broke up, Shantel filed a lawsuit against Floyd, alleging that he had physically abused her. The lawsuit also claimed that he had stolen her jewelry, and threatened to release nude photos of her if she went public with the abuse allegations.
The lawsuit was settled out of court in 2015, with Shantel reportedly receiving a seven-figure settlement.
In 2014, Shantel started dating Nelly, whom she reportedly met at a private party in Atlanta. The two have also collaborated professionally, with Shantel appearing in Nelly’s 2015 music video for his song “The Fix”, which features a steamy scene between them. They’ve also been spotted together at several red carpet events, including the 2016 Face Gala, and the 2019 Miss Universe pageant.
Shantel stood by Nelly during his 2017 second-degree rape investigation, which was later dropped, later leading him to pursue a counter-lawsuit.
The couple has been relatively private about their relationship, only sharing glimpses of their life together on social media and TV. The last time they appeared together in public was in 2020, which has since sparked rumors about them possibly having broken up. This was confirmed by Shantel, who responded to a fan’s question by saying that the two are now ‘just friends’.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a retired American professional boxer and now promoter, widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time. Born on 24 February 1977, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Floyd was raised in a family of boxers, with his father and two uncles having successful careers in the sport.
Floyd started boxing at a young age, with his father, Floyd Mayweather Sr. serving as his trainer. He won the national Golden Gloves championship in 1993, 1994 and 1996 before representing the US at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, where he won the bronze medal in the featherweight division.
After the Olympics Floyd turned professional, signing with promoter Bob Arum’s Top Rank organization. He quickly made a name for himself in the sport, winning his first world title, the WBC super featherweight championship, in 1998 at the age of 21. Floyd went on to become a five-division world champion, winning titles in the super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight, welterweight, and super welterweight divisions.
Throughout his career, Floyd developed a reputation as a defensive genius, using his speed, footwork and reflexes to evade his opponents’ punches, and counter with precision. He possessed a powerful right hand and excellent counterpunching skills, which allowed him to break down opponents and wear them out over the course of a fight.
Floyd’s most high-profile fights came later in his career, with his bouts against Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, and Conor McGregor drawing enormous pay-per-view numbers, and generating millions of dollars in revenue.
Floyd officially retired from professional boxing in 2017, with an undefeated record of 50 wins and no losses, after which, he transitioned into promoting, having launched his own company, Floyd Promotions, in 2007. The company has promoted a number of high-profile fights, including Floyd’s own fights, and those of other boxers such as Gervonta Davis.
Floyd also continued to stay involved in the sport as a trainer and advisor, working with fighters such as Davis and his own nephew, J’Leon Love. In addition, Floyd has ventured into other businesses, including real estate and investments in cryptocurrency.
Floyd’s career was not without controversy, however. He was known for his brash and sometimes confrontational personality, often engaging in trash talk and taunting opponents before fights. He also had several run-ins with the law, including charges of domestic violence, for which he served jail time in 2012.
Outside of the ring, Floyd is known for his flamboyant personality, extravagant lifestyle, and flashy fashion sense, often wearing designer clothes and jewelry worth millions of dollars.
Floyd’s lifestyle and penchant for spending money also drew criticism, with some accusing him of being insensitive to issues such as poverty and social inequality. Despite these controversies, however, Floyd remained one of the most successful and popular boxers of his era, with a devoted fan base.
Floyd’s success in boxing, as well as his promotional and business ventures, have made him one of the wealthiest athletes of all time – according to the financial magazine “Forbes”, he earned more than $1 billion over the course of his career. As of April 2023, his net worth is estimated at close to $450 million.
