Marjorie Elaine Harvey is a socialite, fashion blogger, and online personality, perhaps best recognized as the wife of the world-renowned TV host, presenter and comedian Steve Harvey. She was born under the Zodiac sign Libra on 10 October 1964 in Memphis, Tennessee USA, so as of 2021, she’s 57 years old, and holds American nationality.

Early life and Family

Little is known about her family, background and early life, except that her mother’s name was Doris Bridges. Reportedly, her father was black, while her mother was white, meaning Marjorie is of mixed ethnicity. It’s unknown whether she has any siblings.

After matriculating from high school, she enrolled at the University of Memphis, however, she didn’t stay long, as she dropped out due to bad grades.

Career

She apparently worked in the fashion industry from shortly after she left uni, but didn’t gain much notice until 2007, when she married Steve Harvey, and when she launched the blog entitled “The Lady Loves Couture”. Her blog covered a variety of topics, not only relating to fashion ideas, trends, and make-up, but also lifestyle and traveling. Building her profile and reputation, it did not take long for Marjorie to begin attending numerous fashion events in Milan, Paris, and New York, establishing herself as one of the recognized fashionistas.

Even though her blog has been inactive for a couple of years, she uses her other social media accounts to share her style inspirations, outfit ideas, and advice.

Having a knack for fashion, she launched her own consignment shop entitled “Marjorie Harvey’s Closet”, through which you can buy couture and designer clothing from her collection. Her enthusiasm for fashion and accessories also prompted Marjorie to create, design, and launch her handbag line called “MN Handbags”.

In 2010, she and her husband, Steve, launched the charity organization “The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation (SMHF), which aims to transform youth, and cultivate new generations through educational enrichment, mentoring programs, and global service initiatives. Similar to Harvey’s, Marjorie’s romantic life was very turbulent, as she’s ‘walked the aisle’ three times. She said her first “I do” in the 1990s to Jimmy Townsend. Not much information is known about her first marriage, such as how long the marriage lasted, however, the reason why Marjorie filed for divorce was common knowledge -Jimmy was a criminal who got life in prison for drug trafficking.

Not long after the dissolution of her marriage to Jimmy, she stumbled upon another drug dealer, Darnell Woods, with whom she welcomed three children, Jason, Lory, and Morgan. According to reports, Darnell was a gang member and had operated with the Wood Brother’s gang.

Repeating history, she divorced Darnell after he was sentenced for his involvement in drug trafficking.

Marjorie’s daughter, Lory, is a model and entrepreneur who launched a skincare line entitled “SKN by LH”. Lory also came into public focus in 2020, after she started dating the popular actor Michael B. Jordan.

How did she meet Steve Harvey?

The story goes that they locked eyes at a comedy club in Memphis, Tennessee, where Steve was performing stand-up comedy. Steve immediately fell in love with Marjorie. He saw her walking into the club and jokingly said to the crowd that he would marry her, even though they were both married at the time. Fast forward a couple of years – they officially met at a party and soon after started a romantic relationship.

West Virginia native Harvey, prior to becoming a comedian and world-famous host, was involved in various jobs, including being a boxer, carpet cleaner, and mailman.

Coming from a modest background, Steve started his career as a comedian in the mid-’80s, using his observational humor to capture the audience’s attention, and performing at various clubs. Slowly walking the staircase of success in the early ‘90s, he became the headliner in most of the well-known comedy clubs.

Harvey also started appearing on TV, such as in the “Johnny Walker Comedy Search and Def Comedy Jam”. In 2000, he launched “The Steve Harvey Morning Show”, and his acting career, starring in movies such as “The Fighting Temptations”, “Love Don’t Cost a Thing”, and “Johnson Family Vacation”.
