Shaun So is an American military veteran and entrepreneur, having served as an intelligence analyst for the US Department of Defense and later started his own The So Company. However, Shaun is probably best known to the world as the husband of American actress Anna Chlumsky.

He hasn’t talked about his childhood and there is no information on whether he has any siblings or not. After high school, he enrolled at the University of Chicago from which he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 2003. Moreover, he studied the Mandarin language at Tsinghua University, and later obtained a Master of Business Administration from the City University of New York.

Career

After university, Shaun joined the Defense Intelligence Agency of the US federal government in 2003, and had several jobs through 2011.

He assumed the position of an intelligence analyst and served in this capacity for the next three years. Moreover, from 2003 to 2011 he was a counter=intelligence special agent for the US Army. His next position was as a defense contractor for McNeil Technologies, from July 2006 to March 2009. Furthermore, he served as a tactical intelligence team sergeant.

Entrepreneurial Career

Once he was out of military service, Shaun started thinking about starting his own company. The first such effort was the urban logistics start-up called Cubby in 2011.

He served as the company’s CEO from June 2011 until April 2012. However, his first company was a failure and closed before the first birthday celebration. He then started writing for the business magazine Forbes, combining topics such as army veterans, business, and entrepreneurship. Shaun next launched The So Company, which is a consulting firm that provides content, usability, and software development services to government agencies and private sector organizations. Some of the company’s clients include the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the US Department of Veterans Affairs.

He is now the CEO of the company and its managing partner.

Personal Life, Marriage, Wife, Children

Shaun and Anna met while they both were students at the University of Chicago in 2000. He spent two years in Afghanistan from 2004 to 2006 but their love beat all the hardships the long-distance between them had put. After his safe return in January 2006 and in May of the same year, he proposed to her. Anna eventually took their engagement to the public in October of 2007 and the wedding ceremony took place in Brooklyn, New York on 8 March 2008, privately with only family members and a few close friends in attendance.

Since marrying, the couple has welcomed two daughters, Penelope Joan So born in 2013, and Clara Elizabeth in 2016.

Born Anna Maria Chlumsky on 3 December 1980 in Chicago, Illinois USA, she’s the daughter of Frank Chlumsky Jr., a chef and saxophone player, and his wife Nancy, who is a singer, actress, and also worked as a flight attendant.

Of Croatian and Czech ancestry, Anna was raised Catholic, but went to Grace Lutheran Church and School in River Forest, Illinois. Later, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies, and studied acting at the Atlantic School in Manhattan.

Her career started early on, appearing in advertising campaigns, while she made her acting debut in 1989 in a minor role in the film “Uncle Buck”. Most recently, she has started working on the new TV drama series “Inventing Anna”, scheduled to premiere in 2022. Meantime, she’s been voicing Charlotte in the “Rugrats” reboot in 2021.
