Prior to meeting Billy Joel in 2009, Alexis spent the early-to-mid 2000s working for various firms in New York, culminating in her being appointed at wealth management firm Morgan Stanley. Given that she is reported to have eight years of experience in the financial sector, and considering that she must have graduated from Stony Brook University sometime in 2003, there is partial evidence to suggest that she might have left her corporate job in 2011 or ‘12.
During this time, she developed her passion for horse-riding, soon becoming an accomplished equestrian and active member of the US Equestrian Federation. In 25 January 2018, the couple bought a 5-acres (2ha) horse ranch situated in Wellington, for $3.5 million – Alexis manages all business affairs there. A source close to the couple disclosed that, ‘This purchase was all about her. He owns horses. She rides. She wanted a place for herself.’

The couple took things slowly and first became friends. As Alexis has stated herself, ‘We were friends for a while before we started dating.’
After six years of friendship and dating, they married on 4 July 2015.
The wedding ceremony came as a surprise to all guests – according to People Magazine, the couple was holding a private Fourth of July ceremony at Billy Joel’s private estate in Long Island, and during the event, the couple exchanged vows in a ceremony presided over by former Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo. Among those invited were actor Kevin James, who made a speech, and Billy Joel’s daughter and singer Alexa Ray, who served as maid of honor.
At the time of the wedding Alexis was eight months pregnant, and gave birth to the couple’s first daughter, Della Rose Joel, on 12 August 2015. At the time, Billy Joel expressed his happiness in a public statement on his website: ‘I am gonna spend a lot of time with this kid. I was thinking about that. Probably going to be able to spend more time with this kid than most people are able to spend with their children, because I don’t have a regular job. I could be a stay-at-home dad for as long as I can stay alive.’
Della Rose Joel appeared at the in Madison Square Garden and sang “Don’t Ask Me Why” with her father on 19 December 2018, at the young age of 3, confirming her artistic inclination.
On 22 October 2017 Alexis gave birth to the couple’s second daughter, Remy Anne Joel.

Billy Joel, one of the most renowned and successful singer-songwriters in the US, was born on 9 May 1949, in Hicksville, New York State USA. Both of his parents, Helmuth and Rosalind Nyman, were Jewish – his father was of German origin and came from a successful line of German manufacturers. He fled to the US to escape the Holocaust, where he met Rosalind who was of English descent. The couple divorced in 1960, when Billy was 11 years old, and his father left the family to move to Austria.

He attended Hicksville High School but dropped out before matriculating in 1967, as at the time he was spending many hours working at a piano bar to provide money for his family and his single mother, and missed crucial exams, so failed to acquire the required credits. Instead, he fully embraced his music career, citing The Beatles as his main source of inspiration, stating that he decided to pursue his music career after hearing them in 1964.
Career
Between 1965 and 1970 Billy joined several local music bands, including The Echoes, Emeralds, Lost Souls and The Hassles. In 1969, he and another member from the Hassles, Jon Small, formed a duo, Attila, but disbanded in 1970 after it was revealed that Billy was having an affair with Jon’s wife.
During the same year Billy started his solo career – his signature song, “Piano Man”, the “Piano Man” album and his “Greatest Hits” collection, constitute only a fraction of the work that has established him as one of the best-selling artists in the world, over 150 million albums worldwide.
Personal Relationships and Marriages
Billy Joel has married four times and has three children. He first married Elizabeth Weber Small in 1973, having started the relationship in 1970, when Elizabeth was still married to fellow band member Jon Small – Jon and Elizabeth also had a child. When the affair was made public, she ended relationships with both men, but resumed her love story with Billy Joel by 1973, but they divorced after nine years in 1982, and never had children.
He then married supermodel Christine Brinkley in 1985, who gave birth to their daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, on 29 December 1985. The couple divorced after nine years on 26 August 1994, but Alexa maintains a close relationship with her father, and has been the maid of honor in his two subsequent marriages.
On 2 October 2004 Billy Joel married Katie Lee, who is a food critic, chef and novelist. They split almost five years later, on 17 June 2009, and didn’t have children.
He’s still married to Alexis Roderick.
Billy Joel’s net worth is estimated at $225 million.
Billy has battled with depression since the early 1970s,, and at one time was put on the Suicide Watch List, after trying to end his life by drinking nail polish. During his career, he’s often conveyed anti-suicide messages.
