After dating for a while, they tied the knot at a wedding ceremony held in January 2000. Two years later, they welcomed their first son named Nevada Alexander Musk, but who unfortunately died from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDs) when he was only ten weeks old.
They then decided to try in vitro fertilization (IVF) to continue their family, and in April 2004, Jennifer gave birth to twin sons, Xavier and Griffin, after which they welcomed triplet sons, Damian and his two brothers, Kai and Saxon. He was raised by his father, Errol Musk, who was a consultant, electromagnetic engineer, pilot, sailor, and property developer, and his mother Maye Musk (née Haldeman), a model and dietitian. He has a younger brother, Kimbal Musk, a chef, restaurateur, and entrepreneur, and a younger sister, Tosca Musk, a filmmaker.

In 1995, Elon Musk co-founded his first company called Zip2 Corporation, along with his brother Kimbal, which provided an online city guide software to newspapers.
The company became successful for a short time – they even collaborated with the Chicago Tribune and The New York Times, and it was then purchased by Compaq Computer for $307 million in 1999. The same year, he co-founded an online financial services and e-mail payment company called X.com, which eventually merged with the software company Confinity Inc. in 2000 to form the money-transfer service PayPal, for which he then served as its CEO. SpaceX
In 2001, Elon Musk became involved with the space advocacy non-profit organization “Mars Society”, which promotes the human exploration and settlement of the planet Mars.
It inspired him to build spacecraft for commercial space travel, so he bought refurbished Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), and founded a company called Space Exploration Technologies Corp., traded as SpaceX, in the following year, to build rockets. He now serves as the company’s CEO and Chief Engineer. In 2008, the company was awarded the contract by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), to handle cargo transport for the International Space Station.
