Timothy Walter Burton was born on 25 August 1958 in Burbank, California USA. He is the son of William ‘Bill’ Burton and his wife Jean Burton. He attended Burbank High School but wasn’t a great student, and after matriculation enrolled at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, Santa Clarita, where he studied character animation. He has been interested in filmmaking from an early age, and one of his earliest creations was the short film “The Island of Doctor Agor”. He was 13 at the time, and used an 8 mm film without sound to create stop motion films. As he got older, his interest increased, and while at California Institute of the Arts, he made films “Stalk of the Celery Monster” and “King and Octopus”.
Following these successes, he was hired by Walt Disney Productions to work in their animation division.

She’s the daughter of Raymond Bonham Carter, a merchant banker and the alternative British director of the Bank of England at the International Monetary Fund in the ‘60s, and his wife Elena (nee Propper de Callejon), a psychotherapist of Spanish and Jewish ancestry.
Helena’s great, great-grandmother was Florence Nightingale’s aunt, and Helena is rather proud of her connection to the founder of modern nursing; her great-grandfather was H.H. Asquith, Prime Minister of England.
She grew up in Golders Green alongside her two older brothers, Edward and Thomas, and went to South Hampstead High School, while she completed her A-levels at Westminster School.
