Jerry Jewell is an American voice actor and voice director, best known to the world as the voice of such characters as Kyo Sohma in the animated series “Fruits Basket” (2001-2021), and Barry the Chopper in the animated series “Fullmetal Alchemist” (2003-2004), among numerous other characters that he’s voiced over the course of his career. He works with production houses Okratron 5000 and Funimation.

Jerry Jewell was born on 30 July 1976 under the Leo zodiac sign, in McAlester, Oklahoma USA. Jerry grew up in his hometown and matriculated for a local high school, however, he hasn’t talked much about his family life, including the names of his parents and whether he has any siblings or not.
Interested in anime from an early age, he started pursuing voice acting at an early age, and didn’t have to wait long for his first work as he provided the voice to Jin in the animated TV series “Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files” between 1992 and 1994. He ended the ‘90s working primarily on Jimmy Kudo, and didn’t have much time for other projects, while he started the new millennium with the voice of Tony Frost in the animated series “Blue Gender”.
Rise to Prominence
The voice of Jimmy Kudo launched him to stardom, and he subsequently gained other prominent voice roles, including Merry and Minchy in the anime series “One Piece” which lasted from 2000 to 2013.
He had more and more work throughout the 2000s, working on such manga series as “Fullmetal Alchemist” (2003-2004) as the voice of Barry the Chopper/ Number 66, and reprised the role in 2009 in the sequel “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood”.
In the anime series “Samurai 7” he was the voice of Hyogo, the series based on the eponymous film “Seven Samurai” by Akira Kurosawa. Subsequently, Jerry went on to voice Taira in the manga series “Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad” from 2004 to 2005, and in 2005 he was the voice of Sorata in the manga series “Reservoir Chronicle: Tsubasa” (2005), which was illustrated and written by the group of manga artists known as Clamp.
Moreover, he was the voice of Rin Tsuchimi in the animated series “Shuffle!” (2005-2006), while 2007 and 2008 saw him voice Claire Stanfield in the anime “Baccano!”, and from 2007 to 2009 he was the voice of Asim Jamar in the anime series “Dragonaut: The Resonance”.
Jerry continued his career rather successfully during the second half of the decade, including voicing Lau in “Black Butler” (2009-2010), created by Yana Toboso, and voiced Cliff in “Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar” (2009-2010). In 2010 he was the voice of Lucile in the anime “The Legend of the Legendary Heroes”. He continued his career with the voice of Kodaka in the anime series “Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends” (2011-2013) and voiced several characters in the anime “We Without Wings: Under the Innocent Sky” (2011-2012).
In 2013 he was the voice of Azana in the anime series “Karneval”, and then joined the main cast of “Attack On Titan” as the voice of Moblit which lasted until 2019. He voiced Gieve in the anime “The Heroic Legend of Arslan” from 2015 to 2016, and in nine episodes of the mini-series “Servamp”, he voiced Snowlily. Moreover, he voiced Aion in the anime series “Show by Rock!!” (2015-2016), and in 2016 alone voiced Shara in the animated series “Drifters”.
In “My Hero Academia” he can be heard voicing several characters, and the same can be said for the animated series “Black Clover”. This was followed by the voice of Sandal in “Sakura Quest”, Usagi in “Juuni Taisen”, and Oliver Blomdahl in “Knight’s & Magic”.
All of these were in 2017, while in 2018 voiced several characters in the mini-series “Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san” and was the voice of Raeven in “Overlord”.
