Who is Josh Grelle?
Joshua James Ervin ‘Josh’ Grelle was born under the zodiac sign of Scorpio on 2 November 1985, in Clifton, Texas USA; they hold American nationality and their ethnicity is White, Josh uses they/them pronouns, and as he now identifies himself as a nonbinary person. Early life and education
Josh was raised in Clifton alongside his brother by their parents, however, there isn’t much information about their family, whose names and occupations are unrevealed, so it’s assumed that they prefer to keep their private lives away from media’s attention.
They attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2003, they didn’t enroll at college.
Right after matriculating, Josh started sending audition tapes to a local production company “A. D. Vision”, however, it took almost a year for them to be cast.
In 2004, they were cast to voice the character of Itsuki in the series “Initial D: Fourth Stage“, followed by their voice role as Hammer in the series “Xenosaga: The Animation”, and after that, for over fifteen years they voiced nearly 400 characters in various anime series and movies.
Some of their most notable voice roles are Fumikage Tokoyami in the anime “My Hero Academia”, Ox Ford in the “Soul Eater”, Armin Arlert in “Attack on Titan”, Yuri Katsuki in “Yuri!!! on Ice” and as Hosei in “Hero Tales” among others.
Josh voiced the characters such as Makoto Ogami in “Ghost Hound”, Akira Amamiya in “Ef: A Tale of Melodies”, Akasha Shishidou in “Corpse Princess: Aka” and “Corpse Princess: Kuro”, Kenji in “RideBack”, Kouichi in “Lonebarrels of Iron”, and many others.
Their most recent voice role was as Futaro Uesugi in “The Quintessential Quintuplets”, as Tsukuyomi in the movie “My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission” and as Dir in “Banished from the Hero’s Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside”.
Josh has 17 award nominations for their work as a voice actor, and won two; Behind the Voice Actors Award Best Male Vocal Performance in an Anime Feature Film/Special in a Supporting Role for the anime “Gekijouban Psycho-Pass” in 2015, and Behind the Voice Actor Award Best Vocal Ensemble in an Anime Television Series/OVA which they share with other voice actors from the anime “Shingeki no kyjin”.

Josh worked as an automated dialogue replacement (ADR) scriptwriter in English language dubs of Japanese anime, mostly for Seraphim Digital, Funimation, and ADV Films.
They are known for their movies dubbing such as “Attack on Titan: Roar of Awakening”, “Freel Take Your Marks”, “Fafner: Heaven and Earth”, and many others. They also voiced some video games, which makes Josh one of the most popular voice actors.
Love life and relationship
There are various rumors concerning Josh’s love life and sexual orientation, especially when Josh stated that they define as a non-binary person. People were assuming that Josh is gay, or that their sexual orientation is bi-sexual, thinking that they date women and men, too.
Most people are either male or female, but some people feel that they don’t fit into either gender, and people whose gender is not female or male use the term non-binary to identify themselves.
So, being non-binary is not the same thing as being an intersex person, as non-binary people are born with bodies that are typical for each gender, however, their innate gender identity is something other than female or male.
Many people were surprised, when in 2017 Josh married Joanna Beatty, who is a costume designer, and that is the only thing known about her, as she has no social media platforms, or she might have some, but under a moniker unknown to publicly.
As of November 2021, Josh is still in a marriage with Joana, and they don’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
One of Josh’s favorite hobbies is playing games; they like “Dragon Ball Fighter Z”, “Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm”, and “Bleach: The Blade of Fate” among others, however, their most favorite one is “The Seven Deadly Sins: Knights of Britannia”.
They also like watching anime movies, and their favorites are “In This Corner of the World”, “Weathering with You”, “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time”, and “Tonari no Totoro”.
In their spare time, Josh listens to anime music also known as Anison or Anisong, which is music with a focus on opening and ending theme songs; some of their favorites are “Moonlight Densentsu” from anime “Sailor Moon”, “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis” from “Neon Genesis Evanglion” and “Guren no Yumija” from “Attack on Titans”.
Josh loves cosplays, and they often travel to events related to cosplay, they visited several US states, and their favorite travel destination is New York, and they dreams of visiting Tokyo, Japan. However, their most favorite cosplay event was at Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.
They are an animal lover, with dogs being their favorites – Josh has a pet dog German shepherd, named Dork.
