Renée was raised in New York alongside her three brothers, by their parents; their father is famous actor Martin Sheen (born Ramon Estevez), and their mother is Janet Estevez Sheen, an artist. Her brothers are Emilio Estevez, Ramon Estevez, and Charlie Sheen (born Carlos Estevez), who are also actors.
She attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 1985, didn’t enroll at college so to pursue her career as an actress. Later in 1995, she enrolled at California Culinary Academy, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Baking and Pastry Arts.

Renée’s first appearance on television was in 1986, in which she portrayed Max in an episode of the series “CBS Schoolbreak Special”; this adventure comedy drama had 133 award nominations, and won 62 including a Primetime Emmy, plus Renée won a Michael Landon Award at Young Artist Awards in 1987, which she shares with four other actors.
In the following years, she had guest roles in series such as “Growing Pains”, “MacGyver”, “ABC Afterschool Specials”, and “Red Shoe Diaries”, before she was cast to play Lieutenant Crandall in the series “JAG”.
Her most significant role on television has been in the series “The West Wing”, in which she acted alongside her father, Martin Sheen. Renée was cast to play Nancy, a young lady who was Assistant to the Executive Secretary to the President of the United States, in this drama about the lives of staffers in the West Wing of the White House. The series had 263 award nominations, and won 120, including 26 Primetime Emmys.

Renée made her acting debut on the big screen in the 1986 movie “Shattered Spirits”, in which she was cast in a minor role, followed by her appearance in the movie “Lethal Weapon”, in which she had the uncredited role as an Underage Hooker.
In 1988, she portrayed Marnie in the movie “For Keeps?”, followed by her role as Molly in “Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers”. In the following year, she was cast to play in the movie “Heathers”, and then starred alongside Dan Hicks and Elizabeth Cox in the movie “Intruder”, in which she portrayed Linda, the first victim of a mysterious maniac in this horror thriller directed by Scott Spiegel.

Renée keeps her private life a secret, and hasn’t spoken of any men whom she has been with, however, it’s widely known about her marriage with Jason Thomas Federico, a professional golfer, who later became a chef when he graduated from California Culinary Academy with a Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Art; that’s where the two met. After a year of dating, they married on 11 October 1997 at the Church of Our Lady of the Scapular-St. Stephen in New York. It seemed that they were in a happy marriage, however, they divorced in 2011; they don’t have any children together.
There are still various rumors about Renée’s love life, however, she’s neither confirmed nor denied any of these assumptions, so as of October 2021, she is apparently still single.
Hobbies, and other interests
Growing up alongside three brothers had an impact on Renée, so it isn’t strange that her favorite hobbies are all kinds of team sports, however, when she wants to relax, she plays golf.
She likes swimming, especially on summer nights, and drinking cocktails at the beach, having by day preferring to sunbathe.
