Asahina Aya Wiki Bio
Japanese actress, social media star and YouTuber Aya Asahina, was born in Sumoto, Japan, on 6 October 1993, meaning that Libra’s her zodiac sign. She’s appeared in only six TV series and two movies, and is perhaps known best for playing Hikaru Kuina in the popular action mystery series “Alice in Borderland”, which stars Kento Yamazaki, Tao Tsuchiya and Nijiro Murakami. The series has been airing since 2020, and follows a group of delinquents who’ve been transported into a parallel dimension.
Education and early life
Aya was raised in Sumoto by her parents who prefer to stay away from the media’s attention, thus not a lot about them is known; it’s believed that Aya’s father’s a businessman and her mother a homemaker, but this remains unconfirmed. Aya hasn’t talked about having siblings, and it’s thus believed that she’s an only child.
She became physically active while attending a local elementary school, and was nine years old when she started running track and playing soccer; Aya continued taking part in these activities for the following eight years. She enrolled at Hyogo Prefectural Sumoto Business School in 2008, and it was during her time there that she fell in love with acting, and began appearing in both school and theatre plays.
Aya matriculated in 2012, and then worked at a local obstetrics and gynecology laboratory as a midwife assistant, holding the job for close to two years; she worked a couple of other jobs in the following three years, prior to launching her acting career.
Roles in TV series
Aya’s debut TV series role was playing the main character of Sayuri Enjoji in all the 12 episodes of the 2017 romantic drama “Tokyo Alice”, which also starred Shuntaro Yanagi and Aimi Satsukawa, and follows gallery assistant Rio, doctor Sayuri, manga artist Mizuho and fashion designer Fuu who are living together in a shared house.
The following year saw Aya play Nagisa Kurihara in all the 10 episodes of the mini-series “We Are Rockets”, starring alongside Tao Tsuchiya and Rikako Yagi; it follows Wakaba as she’s trying to join her high school’s cheerleading team The Jets.

In 2019, Aya was cast to star as Momoko Inoue in the family drama “Runway 24”; it also starred Shun’ya Shiraishi and Atsuhiro Inukai, and tells the story of Momoko whose father was a commercial airplane pilot, and who wants to follow in his footsteps.
Aya played Machiko Sagisawa in a 2020 episode of the mystery drama “Tokyo MPD – From ZERO to HERO”, and her only other TV series role has been playing the supporting character Mirei Hoshimiya in seven episodes of the 2021 action “Girl Gun Lady”, which starred Sei Shiraishi, Anna Ishii and Natsuki Deguchi, and follows teenager Tachibana Koharu whose hobby is to make model toys.
Roles in movies
Aya’s debut film role was playing the main character Nanaka Kotegawa in the 2020 comedy “Grand Blue”, directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa, and which also starred Keita Arai and Yuya Hirata; it follows a college student as he’s having fun with his friends at a beach in Izu.
Aya’s only other film role has been starring as Ohta Manami in the 2022 drama “Red Shoes”, directed by Toshiro Saiga, and which also starred Hayato Ichihara and Yuki Matshushita. It follows boxer Manami Ota whose husband’s passed away, and who now has to raise their five years old daughter all by herself.
Aya appeared in a 2013 episode of the talk-show “Shumatsu Metropolician”, and in 2015 and 2016 hosted 31 episodes of the talk-show “Yoso de Iwantoite”.
The year 2016 saw her make a guest appearance in an episode of the talk-shows “Otona Joshikai” and “Tamori Kurabu”, and most recently, in 2019, she made a guest appearance in an episode of the talk-show “VS Arashi”.
Love life and husband
Even though Aya avoids speaking about her love life in public, it’s still widely known that she’s today a married woman.
Aya and Japanese actor Kenjiro Yamashita exchanged vows in a private ceremony on 26 July 2021, attended by only their closest friends and family members. Kenjiro’s eight years her senior and has appeared in close to 60 movies and TV series, while he’s perhaps known best for his roles in the 2015 action series “High & Low: The Story of S. W. O. R. D.”, the 2017 comedy mini-series “High & Low THE DTC”, and the 2020 action horror comedy movie “Hachioji Zombies”.
Aya and Kenjiro don’t have children together, and while it’s believed that this is because they’re both focused on their careers, some have claimed that perhaps one of the two’s infertile; this hasn’t been addressed by Aya.
She’s yet to speak of other men whom she’s perhaps been with, Aya’s married to Kenjiro Yamashita as of March 2023, and doesn’t have children.
Interesting facts and hobbies
Aya enjoys being active on social media networks; she launched her self-titled YouTube channel on 2 October 2020, and it’s today subscribed to by close to 200,000 people, while all of her videos combined have been watched more than 12 million times; most show her during her everyday life.
She’s also an Instagram star, as more than 1.6 million people are following her on this social media network, while she’s uploaded over 1,300 pictures and videos, most of which show her showing off her clothes, snowboarding and acting.

Aya’s both a fashionista and a shopaholic, as she reads various fashion magazines, and goes shopping for clothes on a daily basis.
She’s into travelling, and has been to a number of Asian and European countries, as well as to several US states – her favorite city’s still Tokyo, Japan.
Some of Aya’s favorite actresses are Yui Aragaki, Mikako Tabe and Kasumi Arimura, and some of her favorite movies include “Ghost Book Obakezukan”, “Have a Song on Your Lips” and “Dogwood Tree”.
