Published

Maya Boyce Wiki Bio

Maya Boyce was born in Los Angeles, California USA, on 28 December 2000 – her zodiac sign is Capricorn, and she holds American nationality. She’s a philanthropist, social media star and an actress, also known for being the sister of the late actor Cameron Boyce.

Early life, family and education

Maya grew up in Los Angeles alongside her older brother Cameron – their mother is of Jewish heritage, while their father, Victor, is an African-American. Their paternal grandmother, Jo Ann Boyce, was one of the Clinton Twelve, the first African-Americans to attend an integrated high school in the US South in 1956.

Maya matriculated from Oak Park High School in 2018, and during her time there, she started showing interest in the performing arts, and appeared in local productions of plays. In 2018, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts, to study contemporary theatre at Berklee College of Music.

Career and philanthropic work

As an actress, Maya has had only one movie role so far, in the 2020 comedy drama “(home)Schooled”, directed by Jessica Sherif, and which starred David Blue, Francois Chau and Karen David. As of early 2022, she’s more focused on her theatre work, and finishing her studies, while she plans to take on more TV series and film roles once she graduates.

On the other hand, despite her young age, Maya is quite well known as a philanthropist. Her late brother, Cameron, was involved in a number of causes himself, while their mother Libby actively works with the Los Angeles’ homeless community, so Maya’s involvement comes as no surprise. As a child, she started helping her mother by visiting some of the homeless shelters she worked at. ‘They’ll have holiday parties, and we used to go and hang out with the kids. I was their age, so we would just play all together’, she revealed in an interview she gave for the fashion magazine “Teen Vogue”.

Nine days after her brother passed away, on 15 July 2019, Maya and her parents launched the Cameron Boyce Foundation, to continue his legacy and raise awareness and fund research projects related to epilepsy and SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy), which caused Cameron’s untimely death. Maya has also taken the responsibility of working on the Wielding Peace project, which was started by her late brother. It’s a photography-based project which aims to raise awareness against gun violence which is becoming more and more prevalent in the American schools. ‘Wielding Peace became a photo series of kids holding artistic tools and such — you know, paintbrushes, cameras, trombones, whatever it is that a kid is passionate about — and wielding it like a weapon’, Maya explained in an interview.

Presence on social media

Maya has become very popular on Instagram, with her account ‘@maya.elan’ numbering more than 600,000 followers. On there, she mainly posts photos featuring her friends and family, while she also likes to share some more artistic photography shots.

She launched her Twitter account in December 2015, and was fairly active on the platform before deactivating her account in late 2019. Maya is not active on other social media platforms, such as TikTok and Facebook, although there are some fan accounts dedicated to her.

Height, age and net worth

Maya is 21 years old. She has shoulder length black hair and brown eyes, is 5ft 7ins (1.7m) tall, and weighs around 120lbs (55kgs).

As of February 2022, her net worth has been estimated at more than $500,000.

Vanessa and Chris met through mutual friend John Garza in 1997.

At the time, Chris was battling his personal demons, following the death of his first wife, Selena Quintanilla. Of Mexican-American ancestry, he is one of two children, and spent his childhood in his hometown. His parents divorced in 1974, and his mother remarried in 1978, butand despite that, he had contact with both parents. While in middle school he joined the school’s concert band playing French horn, and later turned to electric guitar, though his mother objected as she didn’t want him in rock ‘n’ roll due to the negative stereotypes.

However, as he got older he completely fell in love with heavy metal and rock music, listening to such acts as Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Van Halen, Kiss, and Ozzy Osbourne, among others.

However, before becoming a rock guitarist, Chris earned a name for himself in Tejano music, which came in the mid- ‘80s when he joined Shelly Lares’ band. Although he hated the Tejano music, he joined the band as he was offered good payment, but still kept alive the dream of a rock band. After a few years with Shelly, he was noticed by other Tejano bands, including Selena and Los Dinos, which he joined in 1989 after lead guitarist Roger Garcia left the music world following his marriage.

He worked on five albums with Selena and the band, including “Ven Conmigo” (1990), “Entre a Mi Mundo” (1992), “Amor Prohibido” (1994), and “Dreaming of You”, which was released following Selena’s death on 18 July 1995.

In addition, Chris worked with several other musicians, including Kumbia Kings, which featured numerous artists of Tejano music, including Selena’s brother Abraham Isaac Quintanilla III, Jason ‘DJ Kane’ Cano, Cruz ‘CK’ Martinez, and many others, with whom he worked on several albums, including the live album “Kumbia Kings Live” (2006).  Moreover, he was the frontman of his own Chris Perez Band, with which he released two studio albums – “Resurrection” (1999) and “Una Noche Mas” (2002).

While a member of Selena and Los Dinos, he developed an affection for Selena, and after a vacation in Acapulco, they realized their feelings for each other.

At first, they kept their romance a secret in fear of Selena’s brother and father, who probably wouldn’t approve of their relationship. Ultimately, they married in 1992 after having many problems with Selena’s family, including Chris being forced out of the band. They didn’t have children, and after her death, he published the book about their relationship, entitled “To Selena, With Love” (2012). According to sources, Chris Perez’s net worth has been estimated to be around $1 million as of early 2022, earned through his music career.
